Symptom
How to add URL parameters to Custom Navigation?
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
Resolution
It is possible to add certain URL parameters to custom navigation links, using the Configure Custom Navigation tool.
A URL parameter is used to pass certain information about the logged-in user to the target application or web page, as part of the custom navigation. This allows the target application or web page to respond in a way that is more relevant to the user. For example, you might be directed to a different page based on your language preference or your geographic region, or certain data might be pre-populated based on your User ID.
URL parameters can be added to the base URL as path elements or as name-value pairs in a query string. You can add one of eight supported tokens as a placeholder in the custom navigation link's URL field. Information about the logged-in user is then dynamically inserted into the URL at that location when that user clicks the custom link.
To add a token as the value in a name-value pair in a query string parameter, follow the steps bellow:

NOTE: This functionality is available to all customers already using the Configure Custom Navigation tool. If you are not already using this tool, please contact SuccessFactors by raising a ticket on LOD-SF-PLT requesting the activation of Configure Custom Navigation feature in provisioning.
