Symptom

  • A homogeneous system copy fails when other database dumps are put in the backup folder.
  • Following errors show up in sapinst_dev.log:

    TRACE timestamp (Host\Admin) (startInstallation) [SLPGuiEngine.cpp:214] SLPGuiEngine::showMessageBoxHandleButtonImpl()
    <html>
    Could not bring database 'SID' online. <br>
    Refer to trace file sapinst_dev.log for further information. <br>
    Bring the database online manually. When finished, confirm with OK. <br>
    Otherwise the installation will abort. <br>
    </html>

  • The following errors are seen in the isql.log when the system copy fails:

1> use master
2> go

1> load database <SID>
2>  from 'F:/db_backup/master.dmp' stripe on 'F:/db_backup/model.dmp' stripe on 'F:/db_backup/<SID>.dmp'
3> go

Backup Server session id is: 37. Use this value when executing the 'sp_volchanged' system stored procedure after fulfilling any volume change request from the Backup Server.
Backup Server: 6.28.1.1: Dumpfile name 'master1501500E5E ' section number 1 mounted on disk file 'F:/db_backup/master.dmp'
Backup Server: 6.55.1.1: The volume mounted on 'F:/db_backup/model.dmp' does not belong to the same archive as other, previously mounted volumes.
Backup Server: 6.36.2.5: Header labels of rejected volume:
Backup Server: 6.34.2.5:
