2164230 - Letter Character is Allowed in the Phone Number Field

While maintaining the phone number in account, you find system allows to save the phone number which includes letter characters, for example:1234ABCD.

You expect that the Phone field only allows numerical characters.

1. Go to the Accounts work center.
2. Go to the Accounts view.
3. Open one certain account and go to Addresses tab.
4. Enter the phone 1234ABCD. System allows to save it.

It is possible that in some countries, they are using the letter to be part of the phone number.

PS: If you enter an special symbol, i.e.@, it will be removed automatically with an information message.

This is the designed system behavior.
