2168007 - Self Approval Of Sales Quotes Cannot Be Skipped

Symptom

If a user EDF creates a Sales Quote XYZ and it also mainatained as the direct approver of Sales Quote, it is expected the approval process to be skipped.

However the system still requires the Sales Quote to be approved by the user EDF in the system.

(where XYZ represents the Sales Quote ID and EDF represents the User ID)

Environment

Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the New Business work center.
  2. Go to the Sales Quotes view.
  3. Select Sales Quote XYZ.
  4. Click the Edit button.
  5. Click the View All button.
  6. Go to the General tab.

The User EDF which created the Quote is also maintained as the employee responsible for the Sales Quote.

    7. Go to the Approval Process tab.

The User EDF which created the Sales Quote is also maintained as the direct approver of the Sales Quote. Therefore it is expected the Approval Process to be skipped as the User EDF which created the Quote is also the direct approver of the sales quote.

Cause

If the user EDF who is creating the quote is also the direct approver in the approval process and if this same user does not have a manager then this situation occurs.
If the approval process is scoped and the approval process is defined then there is no way to skip this process. The task will be triggered to the direct approver even though the user EDF is the employee responsible for the quote.

Resolution

The Sales Quote would have to be approved by the user EDF which created the document or, if a manager is available, the approval task would need to be reassigned to manager.

The system hereby is working as designed.
