2172567 - Error 16805 when using LOB variable. - ASE

Symptom

  • During simple operations on a LOB variable, error 16805 is raised.
  • The error message mentions 'LOB locator', although no LOB locator is being explicitly used. 

Example:

Msg 16805, Level 16, State 2:
A LOB LOCATOR was used that is no longer valid: Either the transaction that created it has ended or it has been deallocated (return status = -6)
