2173672 - Error 12308 on SELECT after issuing ALTER TABLE on a table bound using 'dbcc tune' - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • After an ALTER TABLE command has been issued on a des_bind table:
    ALTER TABLE t1
    MODIFY col2 varchar(10) NOT NULL    
    ADD col4 varchar(30) NULL
     
  • ASE reports the 12308 error: 
    Server Error: 12308, Severity: 21, State: 8 server Internal error : Invalid row id (Row 18, Page 715) encountered in the table 'col1' in database 'dbname'.
