2176920 - Depreciation Value is Incorrect in Legacy System After Migration of Fixed Assets

Symptom

After Migration of Fixed Assets you realized that in legacy system depreciation value of one of the fixed assets is wrong.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Fixed Asset work center.
  2. Go to the Fixed Assets View.
  3. Select the Fixed Asset XYZ (XYZ represents the exact ID of the Fixed Asset).
  4. Click on Edit Navigate to Values.

Here you observe that for Set of Books ABC (ABC stands for the exact Set of Books ID) the value is XXX (XXX is the exact value of the given Set of Books).

Cause

Since the values were incorrect in the legacy system, these values were populated in the migration file and you've migrated the assets into ByDesign with incorrect values.

Resolution

In order to correct the values of fixed asset XYZ in BYD system it can be done through write-up method.

Below are the steps for write-up method:

  1. Go to the Fixed Asset work center.
  2. Select the Fixed Asset XYZ.
  3. Click on Edit and navigate to values.
  4. Select the Set of Books ABC.
  5. Click on Manual Posting  and from drop down select the Write-up.
  6. Select the Depreciation type.
  7. Select the Valuation view.
  8. Specify the concerned amount.

It is a kind of reverse depreciation. You can see this amount in journal entry tab in Asset values tab. Then again you can post the correct depreciation.

If  your migration is closed you can reopen the migration and reverse the migration from migration tab. Then create a new legacy fixed asset either from excel or from fixed asset work center. While creating of the new asset you can provide correct amount in migration tab this will leads to post correct depreciation of the respective fixed asset.
