2176947 - ASE Message 13904 when altering table column brings DSI thread down - SRS

Symptom

  • When we replicate ALTER TABLE...MODIFY column via SAP Sybase Replication Server, Data Server Interface (DSI) for secondary site may go down with:

Message from server: Message: 13904, State 2, Severity 10 -- 'Warning: A logical RI constraint, using sp_primarykey/sp_foreignkey exists on column 'col2' being modified. Verify the validity of the logical RI constraint after this ALTER TABLE operation.'.
THREAD FATAL ERROR #5049 DSI EXEC(107(1) RDS.WSB) - dsiqmint.c(4458)
The DSI thread for database 'RDS.WSB' is being shutdown. DSI received data server error #13904 which is mapped to STOP_REPLICATION. See logged data server errors for more information. The data server error was caused by output command #5 mapped from input command #1 of the failed transaction.

  • This happens when the target column for modification by ALTER TABLE command has primary key or foreign key constraint.
