Symptom

  • ASE returns error 15601 when trying to access a table
  • This can be seen at runtime or during recovery at start-up or recovery after loading a dump

    Msg 15601, Level 20, State 1
    Server 'server_name', Procedure 'sp_help', Line 203
    Failed to cache systabstats contents for database 'db_name' (dbid), object 'table_name' (object_id).

  • If seen from a client session, it may be followed by

    Msg 17461, Level 16, State 1 Server 'svr_name', 
    Procedure 'sp_help', Line 221 Object does not exist in this database
