2179580 - Java Stack fails to start: "PersistenceException: Client XXX is not available in this system"

Symptom

The application server Java does not start due error "Caused by: com.sap.security.core.persistence.datasource.PersistenceException: Client XXX is not available in this system".

The error can be found in the trace std_serverX.out (located on ../<System ID>/<Instance ID>/work/), the following error occurred:
