2179978 - Permissions denied when you run Channel Administrator with RDP or RemoteApp using accounts without local administrator privileges

Symptom

Attempts to run the Channel Administrator through RDP or Windows Terminal client sessions or via RemoteApp would result in the error messages displayed on the screen:

Error Performing Operation     Access is Denied HR=80070005

  • In the event viewer entries an error message with error code 10016 on the DistributedCOM component would be logged with the following error message:

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local access permission to the COM Server application
