During the upgrade of an SAP system, in the phase roadmap step 5.2 "Extract", phase PREP_PRE_CHECK/DBCHK_PRE, the following error occurs:
"Severe error(s) occurred in phase PREP_PRE_CHECK/DBCHK_PRE!
Last error code set: OSQL call failed for MSSUPGGETREL"
Further checking the logs in the "..\SUM\abap\log" directory, in the file MSSUPGGETREL.txt it's possible to see:
Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server : Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server . .
Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server : Login timeout expired.
Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server : A network-related or instance-specific error has occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. Server is not found or not accessible. Check if instance name is correct and if SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. For more information see SQL Server Books Online..
It means that the prerequisite of SQLCMD being installed is fulfilled.
The same issue has also been observed in the phase PREP_INSTALL/SHDUNINST_DB_PREP.
NOTE: If the message differs from the above, make sure you have installed the SQL Server Client Tools in the application server. For more information, check SAP KBA 2275405.
