Symptom

  • ASE errorlog reports an "Infected with signal 11" error in the module proc__search():

Current process (0x5c290019) infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
Address hex# (proc__search+0x348)

  • followed by a stack trace that includes modules:

proc__search
proc_get
s_getTreeOrPlan
execproc

  • while holding a procdedure cache spinlock rprocmgr_spin:

Spinlocks held by  kpid 123456789
Spinlock Resource->rprocmgr_spin at address ...

  • causing the ASE server to go down immediately.
