2184545 - Error 9615 "Failed to determine the log record..." during recovery - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • You are unable to bring the database online.
  • You try to restart the ASE server, but the database goes into suspect status.
  • ASE errorlog reports error 9615 during the REDO pass phase for the database. 
    Example :

Redo pass for database '<database name>': 2233864 records done (9%); 20104779 records left.
Error: 9615, Severity: 21, State: 3
Failed to determine the log record at which recovery of transaction (83918848,8192) should start.
Database '<database name>' (dbid 4): Recovery failed. Check the ASE errorlog for further information as to the cause.
