Resolution

Setting Expected Ratings for Competencies

Optional Task: Add expected ratings and % weight to each competency you assign to the role.
This task helps you determine if individuals are meeting expectations for that role. Ex.: On a scale of 1—5, you expect people should achieve a 3.

NOTE: The Expected Rating is a Percent, not a value (3), so you would not enter 3 as the expected rating, but rather the % of 3 out of 5 which on a 1-5 scale is 50%. There is a calculator present when entering the Expected Rating to help you with the conversion. You may also download the Expected Rating calculator in the Attachments section.

To add the expected rating in legacy JDM:

  1. Go to Admin Center > Families & Roles > Select the Family > Select the Role.
  2. Click the link under Expected Rating % or "Weight %" - both will bring you to the same screen.
  3. To use the calculator, enter lowest, highest, and expected score.
  4. Click Compute and the system will display the Calculated Expected Rating %.
  5. Click Paste Above.
  6. Enter weight if desired by filling in the Weight % box. No weighting means all competencies have equal weight.
  7. Click Save.

To add the expected rating in JPB:

  1. Go to Admin Center > Manage Job Profile Content.
  2. In the drop down, select Set Up Families and Roles > Select the Family > Select the Role.
  3. Click the Mapped Competencies tab.
  4. To use the calculator, enter lowest, highest, and expected score.
  5. Click Compute and the system will display the Calculated Expected Rating %.
  6. Click Apply.
  7. Enter weight if desired by filling in the Weight % box. No weighting means all competencies have equal weight.
  8. Click Save Role.

(Note: Do not use this feature until you have some actual (live) experience with competencies. Please reach out to your SAP Implementation Partner if you have not used this feature before.)

Controlling the Display of Expected Ratings as a Percentage or Value

  • You can have your form configured to display the expected rating as either the % value or the rating scale value.
  • This change cannot be made to live forms. It needs to be correct at time of launch.
  • This change is not possible via admin tools.

show-obj-expected-rating = “true”

show-behavior-expected-rating = “true”

Then to control if that value is displayed as a percent or value use

comp-expected-rating-format=0 or 1

behavior-expected-rating-format=0 or 1

0 if showing the expected rating in %; 1 if converting the % to a score normalized to the section scale; default is 0;
