2186751 - Server fails to start and reports kernel.randomize_va_space messages - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • This is a new installation of SAP ASE 15.7 on Linux Redhat 7.x
  • The ASE server fails to start and reports kernel.randomize_va_space messages in the errorlog: 

kernel Could not allocate memory using Huge Pages. Allocated using regular pages. For better performance, reboot the server after configuring enough Huge Pages.
kernel Internal run-time model set for Linux - Native
kernel Adaptive Server is using the process kernel mode.
kernel Using 40000 file descriptors.
kernel Warning: Server could not determine the value of kernel.randomize_va_space. Make sure it is set to 0.
