Resolution

Is the 300-400 kbits/s connection speed per user?
This is the speed not per user.

The above number refers to bandwidth or capacity of the service, not speed. Another word, it refers to how wide the pipe is, not how fast.

Speed is the amount of time it takes a packet to travel from source to destination.Together, latency and bandwidth define the speed and capacity of a network.

If the customer has different bandwidth at different location, and it ranges from 8Mbps – 70Mbps. The bandwidth capacity is more than enough for SF applications.

How many TCP / HTTP(s) connection is needed per user?

This depends on the number of pageviews, client (browser), and how often users visit the same pages. The first time, number of connections is higher, subsequent pages number of connections will be lower because we utilize browser caching mechanism.

In terms of browser; all modern browsers support 6 to 10 parallel connections. e.g. instead of making 10 TCP and 10 DNS connections the browser only make 1 TCP and DNS connections. This shaves off 9 RTTs (Round-Trip Time).
