2188236 - Client app connectiing to MFC Version 15 SP06 Gatewayless system returns the error “illegal length”. A Gateway system returns “Read from server timed out” - MFC

Symptom

  • Using ISQL  connecting to an MFC gatewayless system the following error occurs: "external error: There is a protocol packet error. An Illegal length was received".
  • Using ISQL connecting to an MFC gateway system the following error occurs: " read from server timed out"'
  • The DC log just shows the login packet being sent up.
  • The CICS message user log shows:

    SYBASE 09:26:21 TRANID SYLB TSKNO 00036 TRANSACTION START FAILED WITH RESP=0000001C RESP2=00000001
    SYBASE 09:26:21 TRANID SYLB TSKNO 00036 35039 TRAN START ERROR: TRANSACTION    NOT DEFINED IN THE PCT OR IS DISABLED.
