2188617 - Compensation - Why are compensation Forms showing FTE=1 for users with FTE=0?

Symptom

When importing a standard Compensation_FTE of zero, or when EC is designed to show an FTE = 0 in the Employment Information, the system is not taking that value and showing a value of FTE = 1 instead.

Reproducing the Issue

If we are using a Non-EC Compensation template, we can import a value Compensation_FTE = 0 for different users.

But when launching a form, the FTE used for these users in the calculations will be 1.

Normally the FTE field is not displayed on the forms, but if we set it to visible we can see that it is not displaying 0 but 1.

incorrect form FTE.jpg

If we are using an EC-integrated compensation template and we modify the History in Employee Files > Employment Information and set the FTE to 0 the system will automatically save the value as 1.

For example, Brenda Davis has a FTE of 0.5 and we want to change it to 0.

But when saving the system displays an FTE of 1.

Finally, if in Employee Central the FTE is calculated as, for example, the sum of two fields, the system allows to display the value as 0 and save it.

But as in the case of the imported file, the value displayed in the form is 1.

Cause

The reason for that change in the FTE number from 0 to 1 is that 0 is treated as a data error and is corrected giving it a default value of 1.

FTE = 0 is the same as saying that the user is not eligible for any increase, and that is not the functionality the FTE has been designed for.

Resolution

If the user is not eligible for any increase as he/she haven’t worked during the year but still has to be reflected on the form you will need to use the eligibility rules for Compensation and set the FTE to 1.

This configuration only affects to the value FTE = 0. An FTE = 0.05 for example will be valid (the system will consider that the user has worked a 5% of the total time).

NOTE: In case of using an SFAPI to import values, an FTE = 0 will be considered as 0 and will not be converted into 1
