2194433 - How Form Template Selection Rules and Master Template Selection Works for a Particular Document?


You want to know how the form templates and master templates are being picked on runtime based on the Form Template Selection rules for a particular document.


Form Template Selection Rules:

  1. If there is no rule maintained in the Form Template Selection for the respective form templates then the standard form templates will be picked based on the Tax Registration country and receivers language.
  2. Whenever you create a custom template(New template) then you have to maintain a form template selection rules to select the required form templates.
  3. If you have more than one Form Template then the form template will be picked based on the parameters and the sequence that you defined the rule. For example you have two form templates and the order is as mentioned below:

           a. You have not given any parameters(Parameter changes based on the business document).

           If there is no parameters mentioned then the system identifies the first template that available in the form template selection rules of the particular business document and display it.

           In this case if you want the second form template to be displayed when previewing a document then you can change the sequence by clicking on the button Change Sequence and move to top. From next time onwards this will be picked.

          b. If you have maintained the parameters whenever you preview the particular document, the system will perform a linear search and display the form template which is matching with the parameter.

    4. You can Override the form template selection rules manually in the output settings of each document, which will be applicable to only that document.

Master Template Selection Rules:

         A. If the Master Template Usage is selected (you can find this check box if you select a particular form in form template maintenance view).

            Then you can use the master templates that you have maintained in the Master Template Maintenance view of Application and User Management.

         How a master template will be picked?

         1. If you have not created any master templates then the default master template form will be picked. This will be applicable for all the forms available in the system.
         2. If you have maintained any master template then based on the parameters(Company, Output Channel e.t.c.) given the master template will get picked at runtime.

      B. If the Master Template Usage is not selected then you can maintain the header, footer, logo e.t.c. as per your requirement for individual forms using Adobe Life Cycle Designer.

      C. Master template selection, in case of output history and preview.

          Output history selection will display the master template which was active on that point of creation/ release of the document whereas preview will render with the current master template that is active.
