2196777 - Using MS Access 2010 to link tables to ASE via ODBC fails with Reserved Error (-7748)

Symptom

  • Using MS Access 2010, External Data, an ODBC Database linked table to an SAP ASE Server using the utf8 character set.
  • After selecting the table, it fails with the error:  Reserved error (-7748); there is no message for this error. For example:
