Symptom
You are migrating fixed assets via migration tool, however a service call error occurs upon simulate import step.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Business Configuration work center.
- Go to the Implementation Projects view.
- Open the activity list and navigate to the Integrate and Extend tab.
- Open the activity Migration of Accounting Transaction Data.
- Click Migrate accounting transaction data using the migration tool.
- Select the concerned migration unit and click Execute Migration.
- Select the migration object for fixed assets and click Process File.
- On the simulate import phase, you get the following error: Service call failed; report an case
Cause
One of the causes for a service call error is a missing set up for the currency being used in the migration file during asset creation.
Resolution
In this case, you need to maintain the min/max amounts and define a value range in the currency used in the migration file for low-value assets for each accounting principle used by the company.
This range can be configured via below steps:
- Go to the Business Configuration work center.
- Go to the Implementation Projects view.
- Open the activity list and navigate to the Fine-tune tab.
- Open the activity Capitalization Threshold for Fixed Assets.
After maintaining the threshold values, save your changes and simulate the import again.
