2198753 - Service Call Error During Fixed Asset Migration

Symptom

You are migrating fixed assets via migration tool, however a service call error occurs upon simulate import step.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
  2. Go to the Implementation Projects view.
  3. Open the activity list and navigate to the Integrate and Extend tab.
  4. Open the activity Migration of Accounting Transaction Data.
  5. Click Migrate accounting transaction data using the migration tool.
  6. Select the concerned migration unit and click Execute Migration.
  7. Select the migration object for fixed assets and click Process File.
  8. On the simulate import phase, you get the following error: Service call failed; report an case

Cause

One of the causes for a service call error is a missing set up for the currency being used in the migration file during asset creation.

Resolution

In this case, you need to maintain  the min/max amounts and define a value range in the currency used in the migration file for low-value assets for each accounting principle used by the company.

This range can be configured via below steps:

  1.  Go to the Business Configuration work center.
  2. Go to the Implementation Projects view.
  3. Open the activity list and navigate to the Fine-tune tab.
  4. Open the activity Capitalization Threshold for Fixed Assets.

After maintaining the threshold values, save your changes and simulate the import again.
