2199972 - The Determination of the Sales Unit is Different in the Opportunity and in the Lead

Symptom

You have created one Opportunity and one Lead with the same Account. The determination of the sales unit is different in both documents.

Reproducing the Issue

Pre-requisite: You have set up the determination of the sales unit from the rule Functional Organization Unit of Employee Responsible for Lead and Opportunity.

  1. Go to the Sales Work Centre.
  2. Go to the Opportunities View.
  3. Search select and open the opportunity ABC (ABC represents the identification of the Opportunity).
  4. Enter the Account XYZ (XYZ represents the identification of the Account).

The Sales Unit DEF (DEF represents the identification of the Sales Unit) is determined in the opportunity.

  1. Go to Sales Work Centre.
  2. Go to Leads View
  3. Search select and open the Lead: HIF (HIF represents the identification of the Lead)
  4. Enter the Account XYZ (XYZ represents the identification of the Account)

 No sales unit is determined.

You expect that the determinations are done the same way in the opportunity and in the leads as the same rules are maintained in fine tuning.

Cause

The settings to determine the sales unit in Leads and Opportunities are different.

Resolution

In regards to the determination of the sales unit for Leads, the following steps are required:

  1. Go to Business Configuration Work Centre.
  2. Go to Implementation Projects View.
  3. Select Open Activity List.
  4. Go to the Fine-Tune.
  5. Search for the activity: Leads.
  6. Select Involved Parties.
  7. Select the field Sales Unit.
  8. Select Maintain Determination.

The determination is called Functional Organizational Unit of Sales Employee and NOT Functional Organizational Unit of Employee Responsible (relevant for opportunity). The determination of the Sales Unit is triggered by the Sales Employee and not the Employee Responsible. As a result you would need to activate the Sales Employee in fine tuning. As a result, in your Lead once the field Owner (sales) is filled the sales unit should be determined automatically.

For your reference,

In a Lead:

  • The employee responsible is mentioned as the Owner.
  • The sales employee is mentioned as the Owner (sales).

In an Opportunity:

  • The employee responsible is mentioned as the Owner.
  • The sales employee is also called the sales employee
