2201101 - Cannot specify more than 128 Engines for SAP ASE.

Symptom

  • When trying to configure more than 128 engines for ASE Server 15.7.x, it fails with the following message :

Msg 5846, Level 16, State 2 Server 'TEST', Procedure 'sp_configure', Line 1310
Illegal value '129' specified for configuration option 'max online engines'. The legal values are between '1' and '128'.
(return status = 1)

  • Associated information :
    • The "kernel mode" of the ASE server is correctly defined as "threaded"
    • The utility $SYBASE/SYSAM-2_0/cpuinfo is reporting :
             Detected 256 logical processor(s), 32 core(s), in 2 chip(s)
