I want to create an exam but I'm not sure what the difference is between sequential or free-form types.

A sequential exam is used to force a specific order of questions. This is used typically when one question may use previous questions to build upon. It is possible that a question later in the exam may give away an answer of a previous question.

A free form exam allows the student to skip a question and navigate back and forth through the exam. This is typically used with a pool of questions which do not relate to each other.
