Symptom
-
No list of values.
- Some parameter have list of values, others have an empty list of values.
-
In Crystal Reports Viewer, when selecting a parameter drop-down list, it displays the message:
"Unable to Continue Viewing Report
More data is required to continue viewing this report.
This report does contain saved data, but it is not complete. This version of the Crystal Reports viewer
Does not support fetching further data; viewing cannot continue."
And the parameter list of values is empty.
Environment
-
SAP Crystal Reports Viewer 2013
-
SAP Crystal Reports Viewer 2016
- SAP Crystal Reports Viewer 2020
Reproducing the Issue
- In Crystal Reports Viewer, open a report with saved data that contains at least one parameter with a dynamic list of values.
- When selecting a parameter drop-down list, it displays the message:
"Unable to Continue Viewing Report
More data is required to continue viewing this report.
This report does contain saved data, but it is not complete. This version of the Crystal Reports viewer
Does not support fetching further data; viewing cannot continue."
And the parameter list of values is empty.
Cause
- This situation occurs when the report was designed with a Dynamic Parameter that have a List of Values with more than 10,000 disctinct values.
- Dynamic Parameter with List of Values with less than 10,000 values are stored with the report saved data as a static list of values, but not when the list of values is greater than 10,000. Therefore it requires the report to fetch the values, but since Crystal Reports Viewer does not have the functionality of fetching data, it displays the error message.
Resolution
- Product Limitation: Dynamic Parameter List of Values is limited to a maximum of 10,000 values in Crystal Reports Viewer.
- The suggestion is to view the report in Crystal Reports, or in SAP BI LaunchPad.
