2205887 - External Reference Field in a Journal Entry Voucher

Symptom

You have noticed that the External Reference field in a new Journal Entry Voucher (JEV) is not visible to all users once a new JEV is created.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to General Ledger work center.
  2. Go to Journal Entry Voucher view.
  3. Click New -> Journal Entry Voucher.

Depending on the user that execute these steps, you may or may not see the External Reference field.

Cause

For all the French companies, the External Reference field in a JEV is mandatory and is enabled once you fill the Company ID field. In cases where the Company ID remains in blank, the external reference is not shown. This is the behavior for all users, regardless of business roles.

Resolution

In order to make the field visible, fill in the Company ID field.

Note that the system stores a cache of the last JEV created by a specific user. When this user creates a new JEV the system will default the company ID as per the last JEV created. If the user has never created a JEV it's not possible to default such data, thus the field remains in blank. For the subsequent ones, the company ID is derived accordingly.
