2205969 - ASE user logins hang. sp_who shows cmd - MAINTENANCE TOKEN - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • ASE user logins hang and the login never completes. sp_who shows the command as MAINTENANCE TOKEN and a dbcc stacktrace shows the following:

      upsleepgeneric
      uboallocw
      send_audit
      form_and_send_audit
      chk_and_send_audit
      gen_auditrecord
      login
      conn_hdlr

  • send_audit indicates that auditing is enabled and that logins are being audited.

  • ASE log shows:

AUDIT PROCESS EXCEPTION: Can't allocate space for either syslogs or the current sysaudit table in database 'sybsecurity' because the corresponding segment is full/has no free extents. Please refer to Security Administration Guide for details.

  • Over time, the ASE runs out of user connections. Error 1601 is reported in the ASE errorlog

    Error: 1601, Severity: 17, State: 3
There are not enough 'user connections' available to start a new process. Retry when there are fewer active users, or ask your System Administrator to reconfigure ASE with more user connections.
