2212670 - The behavior of built-in function textptr changed when text column is NULL - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • After upgrading an ASE server to
    • 15.7 SP130 and higher or
    • 16.0 SP00 PL0x
  • The behavior of built-in function "textptr" changed.
  • Before the above releases the function textptr returns NULL when the value of the text column is null.
  • After upgrade, textptr NEVER returns NULL, even if the value of the text column is NULL.
  • No data is returned to the client.
