Symptom

The Software Update Manager fails during the excecution of the Deploy Software Components step when upgrading the SAP NetWeaver SP. In the sdmlogyyyyddmm.log the below error can be seen:

ERROR: Not updated. Deploy Service returned ERROR:

java.rmi.RemoteException: Cannot deploy application sap.com/caf~um~metadata~content..

Reason: Container com.sap.caf.um.metadata is not active at the moment and it is not possible to update sap.com/caf~um~metadata~content.; nested exception is....
