2215942 - INPUT_USER_CREDENTIAL: com.sap.engine.services.security.exceptions.BaseLoginException: Error during authentication

Symptom

Software Update Manager (SUM) is used for upgrade/update and error such as the following can be found in the INPUT-USER-CREDENTIALS phase of SUM as:

LOG FILE PATH : /<SUM Dir>/sdt/log/SUM/INPUT-USER-CREDENTIALS_XX.LOG


If you are using SUM SP13 version : then you will get below error  --->

If you are using SUM SP12 version : then you will get below error  --->

Could not execute dialog UserPasswords. See previous messages.
Error while trying to validate Administrator password.
     Possible reason: the J2EE engine is not started.
     Error while trying to get initial context.

com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions.NamingException: Exception during getInitialContext operation. No server is running.
