2216791 - HR GB: e-Filing to HMRC moves from SSL to TLS

Version Management:

v2 Modifications: added Note 2110020, extended section "What do you need to do".

v3 Modifications: HMRC postponed the go-live date of the change. Updated section "New HMRC requirement" with the date.

v4 UPDATE from HMRC: The Live Gateway still supports SSL v3.0 (as well as TLS). SSL is expected to be withdrawn at the beginning of May 2016, after which only TLS will be supported.

v5 UPDATE from HMRC: DPS no longer supports SSL3.0. This affects DPS ONLY - i.e. polling forms such as P6, P9, Student loan forms etc. using the polling program RPUEFI_START_POLL.
    For this process to work, the switch to TLS needs to take place.
    Submitting data to HMRC - e.g. sending FPS, EPS etc. - can still be performed using SSL (which is expected to be withdrawn at the beginning of May 2016).

Your company should have received notification from HMRC recently about a change in their IT support. 
They quote:

Hello Employer,

A change in our IT support will mean that people with older internet browsers will soon be unable to connect to our online services. This change is in line with many other commercial and financial organisations  However it should not affect you if you use a current browser to connect to our services.
Browsers using SSLv3 protocol are affected, so unless your browser (or other software) supports 'Transport Layer Security' (TLS) 1.0 or above, you will no longer be able to connect to our services after 30 September 2015.
Users of third party software that do not use a browser to connect to our online services, should contact their vendor if they are unsure if their product does not support TLS.
