2217951 - REORG DEFRAG produces "ptn_put_hintpage: Unable to store allocation hint for page..." - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • When a REORG DEFRAG command is run on a table it may produce the below message in the ASE errorlog: 

Beginning REORG DEFRAG of '<table_name>' partition '<partition_name>'.
ptn_put_hintpage: Unable to store allocation hint for page 5003445 (PDES 0x2aac0b512058 page2clr=0 found_index=-1 free_slots=0)

  • This can also take place on multiple tables when REORG DEFRAG is run on all tables of a database.
