2226460 - Incorrect URL for a job posting - Recruiting Marketing

• URL for a posted job in RMK shows the incorrect information (e.g. a different location than expected).
• RMK job URL still shows previous title or location after a change in RCM

Example:

• Job Title: Job Test1
• Location: Chicago – IL
• Job ID: 3445
• System ID: 2160151400

Checking Job URL, it is displayed as:

test.jobs2web.com/job/Boston-sus-job896-IL-7777/2160151400/

However, it should be displayed as:

test.jobs2web.com/job/Chicago-Test1-IL-3445/2160151400/

Scenario 1:Incorrect location from the start

incorrect/incomplete location data

The location information contained in the URL is based on location-based elements in the job data. The system geocoding logic uses whatever location data it is fed for location matching. If the location data is incomplete or does not exist in the real world, the system will assign the closest location value which might be unexpected. Note that this value cannot be manually overwritten.

The best way to ensure that the correct location is in the URL is to make sure that the job location data is correct and fully populated in the correct format and properly mapped across (See location guidelines in KBA 2305869 - Job Location Best Practices - Recruiting Marketing)

Scenario 2:A change in location or Title was made in RCM 

The URL is not updated automatically in RMK if the title or location is changed in Recruiting Management. Generally it is set once and does not change to maintain SEO ranking.

The only scenario where the URL is updated for an active job is in calculating how to truncate the URL if needed (if over 300 characters). URL will not be updated to reflect the updated values of title or location if truncation is unnecessary.

Please be aware that the "wrong" URL will continue to work (typing that URL and searching for it will still bring the correct job)
