2226761 - Validation of zip code Taiwan in home address gives an error

Symptom

When attempting to add an employee’s home address country TAIWAN it throws an error for a format of postal code (zip code) which is entered in the employee's address. The error message reads that a 5-character postal code must be entered, but it will not accept a 5-character code.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Cause

The validation for zip code Taiwan (and more countries) is validating not only if the 5 digit format is correct it has to be a valid code as well.

The first three digits refer to the third level administrative divisions, which include districts, county-controlled cities and townships. The latter two digits refer to more detail divisions. Usually only the first three digits of the postcodes are required, the last two digits are optional.

Resolution

If you select a code which is not in the list of valid zip codes for Taiwan you'll get this error even if you entered a 5 digit code.

Please select a valid zip code. The first three digits have to be in the postal codes list of Taiwan. Not any combination of digits is valid.

(See complete list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_postal_codes_in_Taiwan)

As a workaround the validation can be disabled from Company System and Logo Settings. For more details, please refer to 2320220.
