2228753 - ORA-00959: tablespace _$deleted$XXX does not exist error in DEPLOY-COMPONENTS phase

During an upgrade using Software Update manager ( SUM ) tool stops in DEPLOY-COMPONENTS phase with similar error messages in following logs,

Directory:  /usr/sap/<sid>/SUM/sdt/log/SUM/TroubleTicket_XX.txt

An error has occurred during the execution of the Deploy software components step with action execute. Service com.sap.sdt.jspm.service.JspmService failed with the following message:

Could not update components.

You can find more information in the files /usr/sap/<SID>/SUM/sdt/log/SUM/DEPLOY-COMPONENTS_05.LOG and ProcessOverview.html.

Use the information provided to trouble-shoot the problem. There might be an OSS note providing a solution to this problem. Search for OSS notes with the following search terms:
