2229612 - SAP Lumira gives "GC overhead limit exceeded"

Symptom

SAP Lumira gives "An error occured during data acquisition. GC overhead limit exceeded. Would you like to try again?"

Environment

  • SAP Lumira
  • SAP Lumira Business Warehouse Extension

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a new SAP Lumira document
  2. Choose Download from SAP Business Warehouse
  3. Logon and choose your query
  4. Notice the error when attempting to acquire the data

Cause

JAVA garbage collection is unable to free up sufficient heap space and is consuming all the processing

Resolution

Increase the JAVA Heap size from the defaut of 1024m

  1. Stop SAP Lumira
  2. Open C:\Program Files\SAP Lumira\Desktop\SAPLumira.ini in a text editor
  3. Change "-Xmx1024m" to a larger value such as "-Xmx2048m" keeping in mind how much memory you have on the machine
  4. Save SAPLumira.ini
  5. Start SAP Lumira and retest
