Symptom

How are the direct reports transferred when the position of the manager is changed in job information?

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central: Position Management

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to profile of a manager.
  2. Change the position of the user.
  3. Check how the direct reports are transferred.

Resolution

When the position of the manager is changed, the direct reports would be transferred to the manager's manager as per the position hierarchy. This is the default system behavior.

This behavior can be overriden by using the Position Types. The options available within the position type are as below.

  • To manager on next higher-level position
  • To next manager on leaving position if available
  • To no manager
