Symptom
When Lumira Desktop reads an excel file with a column formatted as “general” that starts with 5000 integer values any decimal values that appear after the 5000th will be read as a null value.
Environment
- Lumira vesion 1.28.5
Reproducing the Issue
- Create an Excel file with a general column that starts with 5000 integers and then contains some numeric values with decimal places.
- Open this Excel file with Lumira Desktop and look at the values in the Prepare room.
- The decimal values will be null.
Cause
- For Excel data the general column can contain any type of data. Lumira scans through the first 5000 values to try and determine the data type. Because the first 5000 rows are integers it treats the column as an integer and any values it finds that aren't integers get treated as a null value.
Resolution
- Change the formatting for the column in Excel to be a number type. Lumira will then treat the whole column as a floating point type and will remove any numeric data from the column.
