Note: This article is only relevant for instances that does not have Employee Central enabled. In case Employee Central is enabled then hardcoded system exist to update the Country field in User Information.

What values are supported to populate the “Country” field on People Profile?

Currently the Country field on People Profile supports both "OptionId" and "External_Code" options when using the “ISOCountryList” picklist associated, to populate this information through the “Employee Import” file. If you do not have the picklist association in the country field, then the only option supported to import this information is the “External_Code” of the country.

Note: External code is not support by Employee Profile page if country have assigned picklist ISOCountryList.

How are these values presented in UserInfo Block?

For country field on user Live Profile User Info block, when ISO code is input in country field, via picklist or manual input, Country Flag and Iso Code will be displayed.

Otherwise it will display the input without any transformation, and will not include the flag.

How are these values presented in PersonalInfo Block?

It depends if you are using a picklist association in the “Country” field. Bellow you can find further information and detailed explanation on how these values are presented on People Profile when using a picklist association or using a “Country” field without picklists:

Country Field with picklist association

When upgrading the “Country” field information on People Profile through the “Employee Import” file, it is now possible to populate it with either the “OptionId” and/or the “External_Code” option from the picklist file:

Please note that it is only possible to use the “OptionId” from the “ISOCountryList” picklist if the country field has the picklist (Dropdown list) associated to it.

If you choose to populate the "Country" information with the "OptionId" (e.g. “334”) of the country picklist:

This information will be displayed in the People Profile with the picklist's label (e.g. United States):

In case you choose to populate it with the "External_Code" (e.g. USA):

Then this information will be displayed in the People Profile with the country flag:

However, if you populate this information in the Employee Import file with the picklist's label (e.g. United States):

This information will not be recognized by the system and the information in this field will be displayed as blank:

Please note that when using the picklist association, it is possible to display in the field only the flag or the country name. Currently it is not possible to display both in the field information.

Country field without picklists

It is possible to display the flag and the name on the country field when not using the picklist (Dropdown list) association. However, if you opt to populate this information through the “Employee Import” file, then the only available option to populate it, is by using the “External_Code” from the country (e.g. USA).

In case you are not using the picklist association in the field, and you choose to populate it with the "External_Code" (e.g. USA), then this information will be displayed on People Profile with the country flag and name:

Besides the import option, you can also populate this information by selecting an option from the dropdown list if you have the picklist association or by typing the country name.

Note: Check if The ISOCountryList picklist translations is maintained for English UK language/locale or English US language/locale.
