When moving a candidate through the pipeline to a new status, the following error message appears:

"Some required fields must be filled by the candidate or other operator(s) before proceeding".

1. Proxy as recruiter
2. Go to Job Requisition 
3. Select a candidate
4. Try to move a candidate through the pipeline using any of the available methods
5. The error message "Some required fields must be filled by the candidate or other operator(s) before proceeding" is received by the recruiter

In a multi-stage environment, fields can be configured to be available only to specific roles at specific application statuses.

A candidate can only be moved forward in the application workflow once all required fields have been completed by the applicable operators (including candidate) on the job requisition.

When multi-stage application is in use, this error message will appear in one of two scenarios:

1. Mandatory pre-screening questions. The error message details can say "Required field(s) are: Questions"
   
   Mandatory pre-screening questions are added or changed after a candidate had applied for the job. Check the audit trail of the job req to see if any pre-screening question had been changed:
   
   
   
   If this happened after the application was created, then the candidate is required to fill the mandatory question added or changed.
   
   Another workaround is to uncheck the option 'Required' for the pre-screening question on the Job Requisition Detail page, move the candidates, and then make the question Required again. This will allow the candidate to be moved to another status:
   
   
   

   NOTE:

   • It is NOT recommended to change the pre-screening questions after candidates submitted their applications.
   • It is recommended to configure the "questionResponse" field as required="false" in the Application XML template.
     
     
2. A mandatory field visible to a recruiting operator is not filled
   
   A specific field becomes editable to an operator in a specific status based on the configuration for the multi-stage application. At this point that operator has to fill the field before the application can be moved ahead.
   
   In this context, an operator also includes the candidate. To determine which operator has permission to edit the required field, the permissions assigned to each role can be verified by proxying as the users assigned to those roles.

   For external candidates, the application must first be moved to a status where the candidate has permission to access and update the field. The candidate can then complete the required information using the View/Edit Application option in the Career Portal. Once all required fields have been completed, the application can be moved to the next status in the workflow.
   
   NOTE:

   • For fields that are configured in both the Candidate Profile and the Application Template, it is recommended to keep the required attribute consistent across both templates. This helps prevent scenarios where a field is mandatory in one template but optional in the other, which can result in the field being populated in the Candidate Profile but left empty in the Job Application, or vice versa.
