Symptom
After modifying the labels for first-name-alt1, or other alternate name fields, the labels do not display correctly
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental
Environment
Employee Central - Personal Information
Reproducing the Issue
Modify the Label for first-name-alt using datamodel changes or using MDF "Manage Business Configuration tool".
Example:
Example:
hris-field "first-name-alt1" as "Legal First Name"
hris-field "middle-name-alt1" as "Legal Middle Name"
hris-field "last-name-alt1" as "Legal Last Name"
Navigate to:
- "Personal Information" portlet -> edit
- Select: Show Alternate Language
These field labels will still be displayed as "First Name", "Middle Name" and "Last Name"
Cause
This is the expected behavior and here is the behavior of Alternate Name fields:
The Order and Label of alt field is inherited from the parent field, i.e. First Name, Middle Name, Last Name.
Modification of the order or Label of these alternate fields in the datamodel or MDF is ignored.
Resolution
This is expected behavior.
As a workaround, the parent field labels (Example: First Name) can be modified and the change will be reflected to the corresponding Alternate Name field.
