2247999 - Occurrence violated, container constrained to single mandatory node

Symptom

A process instance gets suspended with the following error (it can be seen in the NWA, going to the 'history' tab in 'Manage Process'):

Mapping failed
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Occurrence violated, container constrained to single mandatory node
com.sap.mapping.lib.execution.api.exception.TExecutionException: Cannot process assignment
at RelayTransformer, SetIntegrator, VoidExpander( TerminalPart:assignment )

At the defaulttraces you can see an exception:
