Symptom
With the release of Office 2013 and its derivative Office 365, there seems to be a noticeable increase in performance and stability issues for EPM Add-in users. This situation is not limited to the SAP EPM Add-in but applicable to various Microsoft third-party add-ins.
With the release of various patches and security updates from Microsoft, these issues seem to get more acute and more frequent thus leading to increased user frustration.
SAP has documented some of the most known issues in notes 2219713 - Reports with Freeze Pane enabled distort the view after Microsoft update KB3085502 and 2107965 - Issues in EPM Add-in after installing Microsoft updates.
The symptoms experienced by the users are (but not limited to):
- Slow program response
- Excel crashing or becoming unresponsive
- Distorted screens
- Unexpected user interface behavior
