2249595 - Error 2946 "Failed to create service key syb_xpskey" when xp_cmdshell is executed on a user database. - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • When a user runs xp_cmdshell on a user database, the following error message appears in the ASE errorlog before XP Server starts:

server  Error: 2946, Severity: 16, State: 5
server  Failed to create service key syb_xpskey.
kernel  XP Server started successfully.

  • xp_cmdshell returns the result normally even though this error is logged.
  • This issue is encountered after applying ASE 15.7 SP135
