2250809 - Error "Terminating with error code 13" when running startdb - SAP ASE for Business Suite and SAP BW

Symptom

  • You are unable to start the <SID> database when executing startdb and get below error on screen:

starting database <SID> ...
Log file: /sybase/<SID>/startdb.log
startdb DB start failed
check startdb logfile in home directory of user syb<SID>
/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/uc/linuxx86_64/startdb: Terminating with error code 13

  • The stardb.log also says:

Database not available
