2252259 - Error Message "Revenue dates must be between DATE_ABC and DATE_DEF" Triggered in Opportunity

Symptom

When working with an Opportunity, the system triggers the following error message:

“Revenue dates must be between DATE_ABC and DATE_DEF.”

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer core applications

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Sales work center.
  2. Navigate to the Opportunities view.
  3. Open Opportunity XYZ (XYZ represents the Opportunity ID).
  4. In the header, select the Schedule Revenue checkbox.
  5. Go to the Revenue Splits facet.
  6. Add a Revenue Split Partner.
  7. Maintain a revenue schedule for a specific period.
  8. The system displays the error message "Revenue dates must be between DATE_ABC and DATE_DEF."

Cause

  • The revenue distribution period is controlled by the Revenue Start Date and Revenue End Date maintained at the Opportunity header level. These fields may need to be made visible via UI adaptation.
  • The revenue schedule period maintained in the revenue distribution must fall within the defined header Revenue Start and End Dates.
  • The same behavior applies to the Item-level revenue distribution.

Resolution

This is the expected system behavior.

1. You can maintain the revenue schedule at one of the following levels:

Header level: In the Revenue Splits facet.
Item level: In the Products facet.

2. The item-level revenue schedule is governed by the Item Revenue Start and End Dates, while the header-level revenue schedule is governed by the Header Revenue Start and End Dates.

At any given time, only one revenue schedule can be active for an Opportunity. This is controlled by the Schedule Revenue checkbox in the Opportunity header.
