2253093 - Who receives notifications when user registers via a Learning site?


If a user registers its account via a Learning site, the user receives a confirmation and the admin receives an information that a new user has registered for the specific site. This article answers the following questions:

  • Where is the admin specified that will receive the notification?
  • Who will receive the admin notification?
  • Where can this be set within SAP SuccessFactors Learning?

SAP SuccessFactors Learning


  1. When user creates a new account request notification is sent out to admin who is assigned approval role as specified in the following steps:
    • Learning admin >
    • System Administration >
    • Configuration >
    • Global Application Settings >
    • Approval process settings >
    • Default User-Created Account Process ID.

  2. For this functionality approval process needs to have specific users associated as approver by following these steps: 
    • Learning admin >
    • References >
    • System Admin >
    • Approval Process >
    • Add manager/admin ids who are authorized to approve/reject user account registration request.

  3. These notifications will be triggered to user and manager (Learning admin > System Admin > Manage Email > Email Notification Templates):
    1. Notify Approver of action required 
      • Template ID: UserCreatedAccountApprovalRequired
    2. Notify User about self registration account approval
      • Template ID: UserCreatedAccountApproved
    3. Notify User about self registration account denial
      • Template ID: UserCreatedAccountDenied
    4. APM User Created Account Reminder to approver
      • Template ID: UserCreatedAccountReminder

Please note that if no Approval Process is set, as showed on the previous steps, then Learning will take the default email address configured as follows:

  1. System Admin >
  2. Configuration >
  3. Global Application Settings > 
  4. "Mail" tab >
  5. Field the "User Notification Email" field. 

The "UserCreatedAccountApprovalRequired" notification is only used when the registration validation is set to Approval Process [You can view this in the below image. It shows you this option in the dropdown].


  • The "SELF_REGISTRATION_ADMIN" notification is not sent when the registration validation is set to Approval Process.
  • If the registration validation option as seen below is NOT set to "Approval Process", then the "SELF_REGISTRATION_ADMIN" notification is sent.
  • The "SELF_REGISTRATION_ADMIN" notification sender is the email set in the "Application Notification Admin Email" in the "Global Application Settings > "Mail" tab" for both "None" and "Site Registration Code" registration validation options for sites.
