Symptom
- On High Availability system, you use encrypted columns in unattended start-up mode which allows access to the master keys without the password holders.
- Once you reboot the secondary companion server in normal companion mode, Error 15497 may be raised when accessing the encrypted columns on the secondary companion during failover mode:
1> select * from test
2> go
Msg 15497, Level 16, State 1:
Server 'server name', Line 1:
The password for the master key of database 'database name' has not been set.
