2259984 - Error "Server has been disabled by CMS" when using RAS

Symptom

When trying to use an OEM version of RAS, the error "Server has been disabled by CMS" is returned.

Environment

  • CRSE 2008
  • CRSE 2013

Cause

This issue can occur if the keycode is expired or missing from the registry, or if the registry key "KeycodeDefinitions" points to a location which does not have the file "BusinessObjects_KCDefinitions_dfo.xml"

Resolution

  1. For the keycode issue:

Install Crystal Report Designer 2008 / 2013 (depending on the version of RAS) and use the keycode manager included in it (Under the help menu) to add the necessary keycode.
  2. For the KeycodeDefinitions issue:
    1. Open Regedit and go to the folder
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Report Application Server
    2. Ensure that *all* instances of the registry key "KeycodeDefinitions" under that folder point to the correct drive and folder path where the file "BusinessObjects_KCDefinitions_dfo.xml" can be found.  There are several possible locations.
      e.g.
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Report Application Server\Instances\localhost\Keycode
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Report Application Server\Instances\<ServerName>\Keycode
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Report Application Server\Keycode
